School Psych. CTA Family,
As you all know, a few weeks ago, Brandy, Claudia, and I met with Marie Whelan and her crew to discuss our concerns with the evaluation process. We were all friendly and polite, but I am not sure that they really heard us or agreed with us. So, I decided to voice our concerns a little higher up the chain. Well...actually that is not true. I just jumped to the top. I ran into Jeff Eakins later that day, and I had conversation with him. In addition, I have an appointment to see Susan Valdes next Wed. The good news is that Mr. Eakins, a former teacher and the husband of a current teacher, was interested in our concerns. He noted that his future agenda would include a re-evaluation of the current Evaluation process. Naturally, I followed up with an email to make myself available to him help out in that process any way that I can.
When I meet with Susan Valdes, I will reiterate our concerns and suggest that the district should have two evaluation processes. That is: One for those in the classroom, and one for those of us not in the same classroom every day. I will also discuss our salary issues and the exclusion of some of our staff from Performance Pay.
I have been asked to return to the bargaining committee again this year. I will do my best to help with those salary negotiations.
So, that is where we stand. I will let you know how it goes after next Wed.
